Olympic Striato

Olympic Striato marble, also known as Striato Olimpico or Striato Olimpo, is a historic Greek marble widely used in the past for floorings and columns of many villas and temples. Striato Olimpico marble is characterised by the elegant stripes whose colour vary from white to grey and to black. The regularity of the veins of Olympic Striato is one of the parameters which influences its quality and its price. The quarries have a good production and the blocks of Olympic Striato are always cut against the vein (“Cross cut”), in order to obtain the famous stripes. Thanks to the crystalline structure of this marble, the slabs can usually skip the resinining process. The best finishing for the tiles of Olympic Striato is undoubtedly the polished one, because it values the regular stripes and the colour variations. Striato Olimpico is a marble mainly used for indoor application where its brightness and purity are more appreciable. It is commonly used for floorings, tiles, claddings, columns, stairs, countertops,..
